On Tuesday evening,  Chelsea  announced the signing of Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal. The 22-year-old has signed a seven-year contract with the Blues and joins up with his new teammates during our summer tour of the USA. Jorgensen said: ‘This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates.’ Born in Sweden, Jorgensen joined Villarreal at 15 years old after time in the academies of Swedish clubs GIF Nike and Malmo and Spanish sides Santa Catalina and Penya Arrabal and Mallorca. After three years in the Spanish club’s youth set up, he was promoted to Villarreal B and made his senior debut against SCR Peña Deportiva in October 2020. Jorgensen soon started training regularly with the first-team squad and established himself in the Villarreal B side. In December 2021, he was handed his debut in a 7–1 win over ...

Six things noticed from Chelsea's 4-1 defeat to Celtic.

Image
The Enzo Maresca era is continuing and so far, it looks more and more confusing as to why Chelsea decided to dispense with Mauricio Pochettino. A draw with Wrexham and now a truly terrible defeat to Celtic will only lead to more questions from fans and rightly so after a strong end to last season. In the hazy heat of the United States, the Scottish giants were simply so much better than their Premier League opponents. Just 18 minutes in, Celtic had the lead and one they richly deserved. Matt O'Riley finished smartly in the box after some clever interplay, beating Robert Sanchez, who had made more than one excellent save beforehand. Before the half-hour mark, Celtic should have been 2-0 up, but Kyogo Furuhashi was denied by Sanchez at close range in superb fashion. But he made no mistake two minutes later, finishing a cross into the box to hint towards something approaching humiliation for the Blues. Enzo Maresca made expected changes at half-time and Raheem Sterling, on as a sub,...

LIVESTR£AM: Chelsea vs Celtic | Pre-season friendly

Image
Chelsea continue life under   Enzo Maresca   when they meet Celtic in Indiana in the next step of their US tour this evening. The Blues got their latest new era off to a fairly underwhelming start earlier this week in a feisty 2-2 draw in California against third-tier opposition in Wrexham, albeit not too much can be drawn from pre-season games – particularly this early into the summer. Still, some of the problems Mauricio Pochettino endured in playing out from the back were evident again during Maresca’s first game in charge, with mistakes leading to both Wrexham goals. The Italian was proud of elements of his team’s performance but few would doubt huge improvements can – and surely will – be made. Reigning Scottish champions Celtic, meanwhile, beat Manchester City 4-3 in midweek after thrashing DC United 4-0 to start their tour in emphatic fashion. While there is a huge gulf in resources, Brendan Rodgers’s side are much further along in their preparations and will no ...

VIDEO: Filipe Jorgensen vs Robert Sanchez- Who is the best No.1 for Chelsea?

Image
According to the transfer oracle, Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will pay €24.5m to   Villarreal   to acquire Denmark international, Filipe Jorgensen who will sign a 7-year contract.  Why Chelsea want Jorgensen: First off, Jorgensen is a reliable shot stopper. Although he conceded 65 goals and kept just six clean sheets during the 2023/24 season, Villarreal would've shipped a lot more had Jorgensen not been between the sticks - the keeper made a La Liga-high 143 saves during the campaign. Along with his ability between the sticks, Jorgensen is also a top class ball-playing goalkeeper too. The 22-year-old's passing range was vital for Villarreal throughout the 2023/24 campaign, completing over 1,000 passes and averaging 44.7 successful passes per 90 minutes with his club side. Considering the possession-based style of play new manager Enzo Maresca wants to implement, Jorgensen could be the perfect signing to allow   Chelsea   to play out from the back. What are his wea...

WATCH: This is why Chelsea have signed Caleb Wiley.

Image
On Monday,  Chelsea announced the signing of American left-back Caleb Wiley. The 19-year-old joins on a six-year contract from MLS outfit Atlanta United having come through the academy system. The deal was announced just before the Blues got the USA leg of pre-season underway. Enzo Maresca's side play Wrexham in their first match of the summer on July 25. Unlike those before him, Wiley will not be immediately available for Maresca as he prepares to play a role at the Olympic Games in Paris. He will be turning out for US Men's Soccer Team in France. Caleb Wiley: What can Chelsea expect from the Atlanta United star?  What can Chelsea fans expect from Caleb Wiley? Wiley might be the most talented wing-back to emerge from MLS since Alphonso Davies. A quick and agile left-back, Wiley scored an impressive three goals and two assists in his first four games to kick off the 2023 season. That productivity slowed down significantly during the second half of the 2023 season, ...

This is why Chelsea have signed Renato Veiga.

Image
FC Basel star Renato Veiga is set to become the sixth  player to  join Chelsea in the summer transfer window after the two clubs came to a £12m agreement for the defender. The 20-year-old is expected to sign a long-term contract that will see him stay at Stamford Bridge until 2032, a business tactic   that has been employed time and time again since the arrival of American owner Todd Boehly and his Clearlake consortium. With the medical already scheduled to take place in London, Veiga is expected to join Tosin Adarabioyo, Estevao Willian, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as stars that have signed under Enzo Maresca so far this summer - although Estevao won't join the club for another year. There's also said to be no sell-on clause in the agreement, meaning the Blues will get 100% of the fee if they're ever to sell the star in the future  who is believed to be the perfect fit for Maresca's style of play  which he'll try to impose quickly...
