"He's going nowhere." Chelsea turn down bid for £100M star despite player not being part of Enzo Maresca's plans.
Chelsea are expected to do plenty of business in the final week of the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that they are hoping to part ways with as many as 12 players on permanent or loan deals before the end of the month, leaving plenty of work to be done by those in charge at Stamford Bridge. There are some players who are absolutely not in the first team plans that the club would like to sell, with them being out of the picture for some time.
One of those is Romelu Lukaku, who the club have been desperate to part ways with for a number of transfer windows now.
It has been widely claimed that Napoli are keen on signing the Belgian this summer, with Antonio Conte being a massive fan of Lukaku.
It has been claimed a deal is close to being reached between the two clubs, however the most recent reported effort from the Serie A side seems to have fallen short of the mark.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the latest bid for his services has been rejected by Chelsea, with talks set to continue.
He said: “Chelsea have turned down Napoli’s to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan (5M) with the obligation to buy (25M). Chelsea want to sell him on a permanent deal immediately and ask €35M at least. Expected new round talks today.”
There is no doubt still a lot of quality that the right side and manager can get out of Lukaku. He has previously been described as ‘world-class’ by Thomas Tuchel.
However, that destination is certainly not Chelsea, and they are instead looking at potentially bringing in their own big-name striker to the ranks.
They have been linked with the addition of Victor Osimhen, with him probably more likely to move if the Serie A side complete the signing of Lukaku.
