"They are not part of my plans!" Enzo Maresca has asked two more Chelsea stars to leave the club.

 • Two Chelsea players have been strictly told by Enzo Maresca that they are not part of his plans for the club.

•Both players haven't been training with the squad at Cobham.

As the club works to trim down its bloated roster during the summer window, Maresca faces the difficult task of balancing preparations for the new season while dealing with the uncertainty surrounding the futures of numerous players.

It's a task he is less than impressed with, venting his frustrations at Friday's press conference ahead of Chelsea's opening game of the 2024-2025 Premier League season against Manchester City.

Under Enzo Maresca,  Chelsea fans have seen senior players told to leave the club as they are clearly not part of his plans for the club. The likes of Trevoh Chalobah and  Conor Gallagher have faced brutal exit decisions from the club.

Two new names have been added to the list.

Per new reports, Ben Chilwell has been confirmed to leave the club as Enzo Maresca does not have him in his plans.

Confirming this decision,  Maresca said in his pre-City press conference:

"At this moment, Chilly is with us. He has not been training in the past two days because he was a little bit ill.  "With Chilly it's quite clear, I love the way he trains, I love the way he is but the problem is that he struggles with us a little bit to find his best position.

"When you train everyday and you don't get minutes, it's not good for them and it's not good for me because I need to make decisions. For some players, it's sometimes better to leave and to go somewhere to get minutes. We will see what happens, the transfer window is open and we will see what happens."

It's been a tough summer for Chilwell, who was also left out of Gareth Southgate's squad for the European Championships. Marc Cucurella has made the left-back role his own in west London since nailing down a starting berth last season under Mauricio Pochettino, when he flourished as an inverted full-back. Manchester United are among the clubs in the market for a left-back and they are believed to be tracking Chilwell amid a host of other possible options.

Another player on the list is Kepa Arrizabalaga. Per the DailyMail, Kepa Arrizabalaga is reportedly being forced to train separately as Chelsea scramble to find solutions in the transfer market. The goalkeeper is clearly not part of Maresca's plans as well.

Maresca also confirmed that Conor Gallagher has returned to Chelsea, but revealed how the midfielder is currently training alone.

The Chelsea boss went on to explain how he will not be part of Sunday's matchday squad, with concerns that his move to Atletico Madrid might collapse.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Maresca said: 'Conor is back. He is training apart. He is doing some medical tests and some training.'

Maresca went on to add: 'He won't be involved in the game. At this moment, he is trying to find a solution with the club.'

Chelsea currently have an eye-watering 43 players on their books, yet only 28 were selected for the club's recent preseason tour. It remains to be seen who will leave next as Maresca attempts to trim the size of his squad.
