"They will be dropped." Enzo Maresca reveals two Chelsea stars will be benched for some games following abysmal performance against Servette.

Chelsea inched into the Europa Conference League group phase despite a stuttering 2-1 defeat at Servette in Geneva.

The Blues surrendered an early lead on the night that came through Christopher Nkunku’s penalty. Servette turned the tide through Jeremy Guillemenot’s neat strike and Enzo Crivelli’s smart header.

The Swiss outfit pushed and probed for a goal that would have taken the tie into extra time, but Chelsea held out to prevail 3-2 on aggregate.

One player who was particularly underperforming in the tie was Mykhailo Mudryk. Although he won the crucial penalty, he struggled again to find his way. The Ukrainian is under pressure to deliver given the scrutiny applied by new manager Maresca demanding more from him.

Recall,  before the game against Servette,  Enzo Maresca had slightly aimed a dig at Mudryk that he was not doing well:

"I didn’t speak with Misha after Wolves,” head coach Maresca said.

“He is very intelligent and he can understand the reason why we changed. You know very well when the manager changes you it’s because probably you are not doing well.”

Another player who was definitely not in the game was Kiernan Dewsbury Hall.  The midfielder had a rating of 5, and had a quiet night as he struggled to stamp any authority on the game - despite the Blues' early dominance of the midfield.

His performance sparked a lot of reactions from Chelsea fans.

"🤣🤣🤣 should be the player who knows the system better but what a crap this guy is . The last time we had this sort of a guy was drinkwater." One wrote.

"He was the weak link today coupled with Misha's uncoordinated movements that the wing lacked any major progress." Another said.

"He is not Chelsea standard to me." Wrote another.

"I don't think he will ever fit into our midfield based on the quality of players we have there.

I see KDH as a LWB because he makes very good runs on LHS, and he's decent at finding a pass but for him to down a place in this Chelsea midfield, I don't think so." One wrote.

Another player worthy of mention is Badiashile whose performance against Servette was underwhelming.

Moving forward,  Chelsea will face Crystal Palace on Sunday and Enzo Maresca will have to organize his boys for the big one this weekend at the Bridge if they want to continue their winning streak after Wolves.
